Sara Hammoutene

Secondary school director and IB Biology teacher

Sara is a science educator with international experience who considers herself a lifelong learner.
She has been the Secondary School Director since 2023 and is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Coordinator. In this role, she led the Lab School Paris team to obtain IBDP accreditation in the spring of 2024.


Although born and raised in Paris, Sara began her teaching career in the United States, where she worked for four years in an international school in Northern California. There, she developed a deep sense of care and community, values that continue to guide her throughout her career. In addition to teaching at Northcoast Preparatory Academy, Sara also taught classes at the state university, helping future teachers implement science and mathematics curricula at the middle school level. Later, Sara joined the Berlin Metropolitan School in Germany as part of the science team, where she worked as a Diploma teacher for the International Baccalaureate.


This experience deepened her knowledge of the IB framework and fueled her passion for continuing her career in international education. As a multicultural educator, Sara is eager to work in a bilingual school and collaborate with Lab School students and families on the development of the secondary school and the implementation of the IB Diploma Program.

In her free time, Sara enjoys playing bass and expanding her knowledge of winemaking and tasting techniques. She was also a professional volleyball player in her youth and currently plays at the national level 2 for the US Villejuif volleyball club.
