What is the IB ?

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) is designed for high school students (11th and 12th grade) and is highly regarded by universities around the world.

IB World Schools share a common philosophy - a commitment to high-quality, challenging international education - which closely aligns with the educational experience we want to provide for our students.

The IB Diploma Programme curriculum consists of the DP core and six subject groups.

The DP core includes three compulsory components (theory of knowledge, extended essay and CAS - creativity, activity, service) designed to broaden students’ educational experience and encourage them to apply their knowledge and skills in real-life contexts.

An IB School in Eastern Paris

An IB World School since 2024, Lab School Paris is the first school in eastern Paris to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). Our high school gives families in eastern Paris and surrounding communities convenient access to a bilingual, international education from 3e through Terminale.

Located in Montreuil in a fully renovated building, our high school offers spaces specifically designed for adolescents and the requirements of the Diploma Programme, including dedicated science and laboratory facilities, independent study areas and spaces for small-group collaboration. With a maximum of 20 students per class, students benefit from individualised support, particularly as they shape their academic pathway and make decisions about higher education and their futures.

Excellent Results for Our First Cohort

In 2026, our first graduating class of IB students achieved excellent results: a 100% pass rate, compared with 82.6% worldwide, and an average score of 34.5 points, compared with a global average of 30.9. 22% of our students achieved more than 40 points, more than twice the worldwide figure of 10.1%, while 78% earned a bilingual diploma.

These results represent an important milestone for our growing high school and reflect the ambition behind our educational approach: to provide a challenging, bilingual and international education in eastern Paris, while maintaining the individualised support and personal attention that characterise Lab School Paris.

Which Universities after the IB?

Course Choice at Lab School Paris

All subjects, with the exception of those in the Language Acquisition and Studies in Language and Literature groups, are taught in English. We offer French, English and Spanish as Language Acquisition subjects, as well as French and English in Studies in Language and Literature. Students whose first or additional language is another language also have the opportunity to continue developing it through independent study.

In addition to language subjects, our school offers a broad range of disciplines, including Psychology, Physics, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, Music, History and Economics. To further broaden the range of subjects available to our students, we can also offer online courses through Pamoja, an IB-approved online course provider.

All subjects can be taken at either Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL).
