The Middle School

At Lab School Paris, bilingual education in Middle School is based on genuine immersion in both languages: from 6th to 8th grade, approximately half of the curriculum is taught in French and the other half in English. Students therefore study subjects such as mathematics, science, history and geography, art and music in either French or English, while project time is bilingual.

Across all subjects, connections are deliberately created between the two languages: textbooks are in French, authentic English-language resources enrich students’ learning, and essential concepts and key vocabulary are explained in both languages. This approach enables students to develop their ability to learn, think and communicate in both French and English.

To support students with a range of language profiles, Lab School Paris also offers up to four hours per week of French as a Foreign Language (FLE) or English as a Second Language (ESL) support, depending on individual needs, as well as Spanish from 5th grade onwards.

 

Our approach makes bilingualism an integral part of everyday learning and progressively prepares students to continue their secondary education in a bilingual and international academic environment.

 

The arrangements presented below apply to the 2026–2027 school year and may evolve from one year to the next in order to best meet the needs of our students.
