Laura Tom

French and English teacher in middle and high school

Originally from Martinique, Laura grew up in Marseille. From high school onwards, she developed a passion for languages and nurtured a dream of discovering the world. During her degree in Applied Foreign Languages (LEA), she had the opportunity to live in Belgium and Poland, where she began teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE). Her growing interest in teaching, tourism and languages led her to an enriching year in the United States, at Wellesley College, as a language assistant. This experience opened up new horizons and strengthened her determination to pursue a career in education.

She went on to obtain a Master's degree in Tourism Management from the University of Strasbourg. After a year, she completed a Master's degree in Language Didactics at the University of Angers, as well as a PGCE in England, where she also taught French. Driven by her passion for travel, she taught in South Africa for two years, as well as in Spain and Côte d'Ivoire for a year.

These experiences abroad bring her much more than professional skills. They broaden her worldview, strengthen her understanding of different cultures and enable her to develop a more inclusive approach to teaching. They also shape her ability to adapt quickly to diverse educational environments and create meaningful bonds with her students.

As a French and English teacher, her mission is to share her passion with her students, design innovative projects and perfect her teaching practices while continuing to learn.

Outside her professional life, her interests include painting, exhibitions, singing, dancing, languages and, of course, travel. In addition, her research contributions on intercultural tourism, diversity in children's literature and intercultural classes in secondary schools demonstrate her interest in inclusive and diverse education.
