Lab School Paris is officially a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) .
Lab School Paris is a candidate school* for the Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.
* Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.
The application to become an IB World School is underway since December 2021. The IB programmes aims, as explained on the IB website, “to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. The IB gives students distinct advantages by building their critical thinking skills, nurturing their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems.”
It is because of the close alignment of this vision of education with that of the Lab School Paris that we have chosen to offer this programme from the start of the 2023 school year. For students who already attend our school (currently from grades 1 to 10), it is a natural extension of their current education. We are also looking forward to welcoming new students from other backgrounds (a first information meeting took place in November, which you can watch on our YouTube channel). Each class will be composed of 16 students.
Applicant schools are provided with support throughout the first year of the process by an accredited advisor. They are subjected to a rigorous evaluation of both the quality of the teaching provided and the learning environment of the students. The first stage will be completed in a few weeks' time, as the support year which allowed us to prepare for the submission of the project will come to an end. In early 2023, all the teachers of the team will complete their IB training. An on-site school visit is planned for late spring 2023, when our new premises in Montreuil will be ready to welcome the students, and it is at this point that the accreditation is expected to be officially delivered.
