Historian, Director of Studies at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, Christophe Prochasson has been President of EHESS since November 2017. A former Rector of the Academy of Caen, he served as an advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of Education, Higher Education, and Research (2015-2017). He has published numerous articles and books on the cultural and political history of 19th and 20th century France.
He has particularly focused on the history of intellectuals, the socio-cultural history of the Third Republic, the history of socialism, and the socio-cultural history of the First World War. He is notably the author of Saint-Simon ou l’anti-Marx (Perrin, 2005), 14-18. Retours d’expériences (Tallandier, 2008), La Gauche est-elle morale ? (Flammarion, 2010), and Les chemins de la mélancolie. François Furet (Stock, 2013).
