André Giordan
André Giordan has always been intrigued by the potential of knowledge and the diverse ways in which it can be appropriated.
Professor at the University of Geneva, he founded the Laboratoire de Didactique et Epistémologie des sciences (1980). His research focused on learning and learning to learn.
At the same time, he initiated and personally participated in innovative practices in schools and colleges in Switzerland, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Quebec, Brazil and China.
André Giordan has also campaigned for the spontaneous learning of reading from the age of 3, and for a different approach to the school curriculum for precocious children. His current focus is on the fundamental skills needed to understand a complex world, to understand oneself and to live with others, in the context of compulsory schooling; and while he continues to support schools, teachers and trainers, he is also “setting up” an innovative middle school.
